Gulmay Medical install Superficial and Orthovoltage X-ray therapy equipment in Macedonia
We are pleased to announce the recent installation of the Xstrahl 200 at the Institute for Radiotherapy and Oncology in Skopje, Macedonia, in association with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The IAEA are committed to improving cancer care across its 144 member states. The variable aetiology and epidemiology of cancer means that the demand for radiotherapy equipment varies from country to country. Treatment protocols and the type of equipment employed in more developed countries can rarely be directly applied to developing nations due to financial constraints and a shortage of appropriately qualified personnel to deliver the treatment.
The Xstrahl 200 at the Institute of Radiotherapy and Oncology Skopje
The Radiotherapy department at the Institute for Radiotherapy and Oncology in Skopje is the only Radiotherapy facility in Macedonia. The department serves a population of over two million and offers both linac based megavoltage treatment and now Superficial and Orthovoltage X-ray therapy following installation of the IAEA funded Xstrahl 200. The centre has been awarded accreditation as a centre of excellence and regularly trains colleagues from neighboring Former Yugoslav Republic countries.
